In this patient, only three abnormal cells were seen, which had a blastoid nucleus, irregular shaped cytoplasm and azurophilic granulation. There was leukopenia (). DNA diagnostics showed a t(15;17) translocation. This case demonstrates that acute promyelocytic leukemia can present itself very subtle.
