AMML - Slide 9
Usually, the nucleus of a monoblast is fairly round and centrally located, but in this acute monocytic leukemia this is not the case. These monoblasts exhibit a eccentric and oval shaped nucleus. The morphology is reminiscent of promyelocytes without granulation. Immunophenotyping, however, shows monocytic maturation.
