A somewhat atypical presentation of an Epstein-Barr virus infection (IgM positive). The analyser had difficulty distinguishing between lymphocytes and monocytes. Morphologically, reactive lymphocytes with a monocyte-like appearance were found. For comparison, the monocytes from the same specimen are also shown.
