APL - Slide 5
Slide of a morphologically atypical APL (PML-RARA t(15;17)). Besides dense granulation, some promyelocytes display a bilobulated nucleus. In this case, it is sometimes difficult to distinguish between promyelocytes and blasts; the classification below is therefore certainly open to discussion. This case was complicated by sepsis and diffuse intravascular coagulation, which is why fragmentocytes can be seen as well. For a description of the clinical course, please see case studies.
