This case of a hairy cell leukemia shows malignant lymphocytes with an enlarged, mature nucleus. The cytoplasm of the first population is gray-blue in color, making the cells closely resemble a monocyte. The second population of lymphocytes shows the more typical hairy margins and cytoplasm with dark blue structures.
