AMML - Slide 8
Usually, the nucleus of a monoblast is fairly round and centrally located, but in this acute monocytic leukemia this is not the case. These monoblasts exhibit an eccentric and oval shaped nucleus. The morphology is reminiscent of promyelocytes without granulation. Immunophenotyping, however, shows monocytic maturation.
