Blood for morphological assessment should be collected in a tube containing EDTA anticoagulant. In this case, a coagulation tube was used and the error was discovered after collection; transferring into an EDTA tube seemed a good idea. However, activation of coagulation leads to aggregates and strong in vitro morphological abnormalities.
