Aggregates
Thrombocyte aggregates are groups of platelets stuck together. This abnormality may indicate intravascular coagulation, but in practice is usually caused by a (pre)analytical cause. Examples include a difficult collection that causes clotting to become activated during puncture, failure of the blood to mix properly with the anticoagulant in the tube, or due to EDTA, Heparin or Citrate dependent aggregation.
