Hypersegmentation
A normal basophilic granulocyte has two to three segments. Often the nucleus is difficult to see because of the thick granulation. Hypersegmentation usually occurs due to folate or vitamin B12 deficiency but can also be seen in MDS, CML or due to medication such as hydroxyurea.
