Appendages
The nucleus of a segmental core neutrophil may have several protrusions. One of the best known is the "drumstick"; a small nuclear fragment of about 1.5µm connected to the rest of the nucleus by a thin thread. This fragment is an inactive X chromosome and is (almost) only seen in women.
