Hypogranulation means the reduced presence of granulation. This can be a manifestation of dysplasia, but because the granules of the basophilic granulocyte are very sensitive to washing and staining medium, it is more often seen as an artifact. However, if the nucleus is also abnormal , it is more likely to be basophilic dysplasia.
