When semen is found in the urine in men, it is usually a sign of recent ejaculation, but this can also be a sign of retrograde ejaculation. In women, it is considered a form of contamination. Depending on the age of the (female) patient, finding sperm in the urine can be alarming. It is usually laboratory policy to explicitly report or not report sperm cells.
