Urine Sediments
Granulocytes
Synonyms: Leukocyturia
Leukocytes in the urine are usually granulocytes. Leukocyturia is defined as more than >5 leukocytes per field of view (400x magnification). Usually leukocyturia indicates a urinary tract infection, especially when bacteria are also found and when other symptoms of urinary problems are present. However, granulocytes in the urine can also be found in sterile inflammation such as glomerulonephritis.
