Eosinophilic segment
Synonyms: Eo, Eosinophilic granulocyte
Eosinophilic segmental granulocytes have 2-3 nuclear lobes. The cytoplasm is packed with pink granules. An increased number of eosinophils in the blood is seen in parasitic infections, allergies, asthma and gastrointestinal diseases, among others. Recruitment of eosinophils occurs mainly under the influence of IL-5.
